Seaside is the largest town on the North Coast and the one most people picture when they think of the Oregon beach: the 1.5-mile Promenade, the Turnaround at the end of Broadway, the aquarium, the carousel, and a wide, flat beach that fills up every summer weekend. Behind the tourist strip is a real town of about 7,000 people with a hospital, the school district, grocery stores, and year-round neighborhoods that most visitors never see.
Full-time residents who want services close by, second-home and vacation-rental buyers who want walkable beach access, and families who want to be in the Seaside school district. Seaside also has the most price diversity on the coast, from starter cottages to oceanfront estates.
Oceanfront and Prom-adjacent homes on the west side, older cottages and bungalows in the neighborhoods between the Necanicum River and Highway 101, newer homes and condos on the south end toward Cove Beach, and hillside homes on the east side with views back across town. Gearhart is 5 minutes north, Cannon Beach 15 minutes south, Astoria 25 minutes north, and Portland about 80 minutes east on Highway 26.
